👋🏽👋🏽 Hello and welcome to the 14th edition of femtech:brief, this week we are focusing on the femtech landscape in Europe and startups to look out for.
Reiterating on the fact we shared earlier, femtech is getting the limelight it deserved. This has led to more investments in the space and the rise of companies focused on both solving and normalizing female health issues.

Europe is no different and has seen tremendous growth in femtech startups and interestingly most of these startups are also founded by women thereby enabling women to help women. Let us explore what is happening in Europe for the Femtech startups this week
From Europe to the world
There is a whole lot of startups from Europe that we have also mentioned in our previous editions. Let’s explore some top femtech startups in Europe:
Clue - Founded in Berlin, Germany. One of the fastest-growing period tracking and fertility app, Clue was also founded by Ida Tin who also coined the term “Femtech”. Other than period tracking, it is also focused on providing educational content, backed scientific and academic research, and promoting conversations about female health on its website.
Peanut - Founded in London, UK. Peanut provides a safe platform for women in different stages of life to meet and find support. Conversations from fertility, pregnancy, parenthood through menopause happen here.
Emjoy - Founded in Spain. Launched worldwide in early 2020, Emjoy quickly garnered more than 80 thousand registered users in its first six months of operation. It now has 150 thousand active users globally. In September 2020, Emjoy raised US$3 million in seed funding led by JME Ventures.
Ava - Founded in Zurich, Switzerland. Founded in Zurich in 2014, Ava specifically caters to women who are trying to get pregnant. It provides data-driven fertility support that is proven to help couples get pregnant quicker, which can reduce the need to move on to costly or invasive fertility options.
Grace Health - Founded in Sweden. Grace Health is a Swedish period and fertility tracker for women in emerging markets. It has recently added a digital women’s health clinic to it. So far it has 700,000 users in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya.
Velmio - Founded in Tallinn, Estonia
Velma is a health app that improves pregnancy health outcomes through advanced lifestyle monitoring and artificial intelligence.Coroflo - Founded in Dublin, Ireland. Coroflo has developed a breastfeeding monitor in a nipple shield that shows how much milk the baby is drinking.
HumanCharger — Founded in Finland. HumanCharger offers wireless headsets which give users their daily dose of sunlight. It can be used for a range of purposes, from alleviating symptoms of jet lag to lessening winter blues caused by a seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Notably used by new mothers who don’t want to take antidepressants to tackle their postpartum depression, the headset offers an external solution for those in a postpartum stage.
